About

The Human Factors Excellence through Applied Research, Technology & Sciences (HEARTS) Symposium is a flagship event jointly organised by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and HTX (Home Team Science and Technology Group).

The HEARTS symposium is dedicated to advancing Human Factors in Public Safety and Security, and is positioned as the nexus between Human Factors research in academia, industry, as well as practitioners in Public Safety and Security operations. The theme for this year's inaugural HEARTS Symposium 2025 is 'Human Factors for Public Safety and Security'.

HEARTS participants will be able to learn more about how Human Factors is applied in Public Safety and Security operations, whether in practice or research, and to network with key partners from the Human Factors research ecosystem for Public Safety and Security.

The HEARTS acronym and logo are designed to be simple and impactful. The HEARTS logo comprises a heart and hand in unison, with the heart representing the human element and the hand representing science and technology. The three icons flanking the heart represent the key aspects of Public Safety and Security research, with the first icon portraying the emergency services, the second icon showcasing the science and technology behind Public Safety and Security innovations, and the third icon illustrating the data insights that drive evidence-based practices for operational needs.
